Android Root - All Questions answered here

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
|All Info's are collected From all over the Internet |
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I ll post here all info about Rooting Android phones. how to upgrade rooted rom. overall everything about Android Phones rooting.

You never know
The good thing about having root is you can go back if you want. The same is not true of not having root. We do not know what steps Google/Tmobile will take to rid the end users of root in the future. For all we know the next OTA will remove the keys that allows the RC29 downgrade method to work and you could be stuck on a non rooted G1 forever. If you have root and for some reason it does not work for you there is always the option of going back.

What Does Root Give Me?

  1. Full control over your system
  2. Ability to alter system files. You can replace many parts of the "Android Core" with this including:
    • Themes
    • Core apps (maps, calendar, clock etc)
    • Recovery image
    • Bootloader
    • Toolbox (linux binary that lets you execute simple linux commands like "ls") can be replaced with Busybox (slightly better option)
    • Boot images
    • Add linux binaries
  3. Run special apps that need more control over the system
    • SuperUser (lets you approve or deny the use of root access to any program)
    • Task Manager For Root (Lets you kill apps that you otherwise could not kill)
    • Tether apps (like the one found at [android-wifi-tether.googlecode.com])
    • <there are more but I cannot think of any right now>
  4. Backup your system
    • You can make a folder on your sdcard and backup all of your .apk files to your sdcard (helps if an author decides to "upgrade" you to a version that requires you to pay to use the version you just had)
  5. Relocate your (browser/maps/market) cache to your /sdcard
  6. Relocate your installed applications to your /sdcard
  7. Reboot your phone from the terminal app easily (su <enter> reboot <enter>)
What Do I Lose Having Root

  1. The ability to accept OTA updates (well, you can but you would lose root, so its been made so they get denied)
  2. The sense that someone else controls your phone
  3. The need to sit in an Android chat channel asking how to get root
  4. The need for a stupid useless "File Manager" that lets you see filenames but almost nothing else.
  5. The ability to have a knowledgeable conversation with a T-Mobile rep about your phone. (Ask one of them to spell root for you)
More!!
I know there is a ton more, but others will have to fill them in for me

  • Once the download of the files are completed on your PC, you need to connect your phone using the USB cable to the PC and then place these two files on the root of your SD card.
  • Disconnect the USB connection and power off your smartphone, so that you can boot in the recovery mode.
  • One can easily enter Motorola Defy + smartphone in the recovery mode by using the various keys combination of Volume down, power button together at once. Release button when you see the recovery menu.
  • Up next you need to select “install zip from sd card” > “choose zip from sd card” and browse for the firmware package you have downloaded earlier. Here in the recovery mode you can make use of the volume up and down keys to navigate between the options and to select an highlighted option you need to press the power button.
  • Once that is applied you would be taken back to the recovery mode screen.
  • Now repeat the procedure of “install zip from sd card” > “choose zip from sd card” for the Google Apps package.
  • Now return back to the recovery menu screen and select “reboot system now” to reboot your device and see the phone with the firmware.
With that procedure you have updated your Motorola Defy + with the custom based Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich firmware until the official arrives.

Download LiveSuit Pack v1.11 Tablet Flasher Free Download

By // 2 comments:
This archive contains the flash tool LiveSuit v1.11 and Widows USB drivers needed when upgrading Allwinner A10 / A13 devices. You can download LiveSuit Pack v1.11 from here, here or here.

Now, before anything, makes sure your tablet / android device is charged up, 100% charge is nice.

Once extracted, and before attaching your tablet to your PC, run the file '
LiveSuitPack_1.11.exe' from within the Livesuit folder. This should install a new device on your system (VID_1f3a_PID_efe8). This device may show with an exclamation mark in Windows Device Manager, this doesn't matter and can be ignored. Now edit the firmware name (.img file) that you have downloaded so that there are no Chinese or Foreign characters within the filename.

Without attaching your tablet to your PC run 'LiveSuit.exe' from within the Livesuit folder. You should get an application like in the image above. You will be asked if you want to be guided through the process, select no.
Click on the leftmost icon (a cube), browse to your downloaded firmware image, and select it.

Turn the tablet completely off. The tablet should be off throughout the next process. Hold down the power button for ten or fifteen seconds if you're not sure, just make sure it is off. Charged up, but off. Connect the USB cable to your tablet and hold down the volume+ button, keep the button pressed.

Connect the other end of the USB cable to your computer (keep that volume+ button pressed - I know, it hurts by now)

Using your third hand, straight after attaching the cable, and whilst still holding down the volume+ button, start pressing the tablet power button repeatedly (approx 1 press per second for 10 seconds is enough). This procedure puts the tablet into update mode.

After a few seconds a window will pop up on your PC asking if you want to perform a forced firmware update. You can stop the pain and release the volume+ at this point. Select yes. You will be asked if you're sure. Select yes.

The update will start and will take approx 3 minutes to complete. You will see a % complete progress bar during the process and will get a dialog saying OK when it's done. It is a non-linear progress bar, so even though it appears to be stuck at times, don't panic.

Turn your tablet on and you will have the new firmware, be happy/sad based on the fact that it is better/worse than your previous firmware
